John 16:33 claims, “In this world you will have trouble.” It does not say that we “might” face trouble but that we “will” face trouble. Many of us are facing trouble right now due to COVID-19 and the circumstances surrounding it. Many of us are feeling fear, sadness, disappointment, loneliness, uncertainty, anger, and/or exhaustion as we continue to wait for the end. During this season, we can turn to the Book of Psalms no matter what we are feeling.

Psalms can be viewed sort of like the ancient version of our Spotify music playlists. There are songs in Psalms for every occasion: joy and mourning, sickness and health, fear and peace, anger and forgiveness. The ancient Israelites would have been familiar with these songs and would have turned to them for comfort in times of trouble just as we turn to worship music today. Over the next 7 days, we will turn to the Psalms to help us connect deeper with God in prayer and worship.
